ONF Flat One

A new LED manufacturer from Taiwan is quickly taking the aquarium LED lighting world by storm by giving away lights to social media accounts, bloggers, and aquarium professionals. In fact, they've given so many lights away that it's hard to find an unbiased review. That being said, this is a technical review of the ONF Flat One based upon specifications and input from a few users. These users are verified ONF free light recipients and will remain anonymous.

Their line of Flat One LEDS are made of 3mm unibody aluminum and have a built in app featuring several aquarium related functions. With very few caveats, this light may be on it's way to being the next big thing in aquarium lighting.

The ONF Flat One Standard is essentially the pendant with legs. Unfortunately, at an 80mm height and 200mm depth, this light leans on the massive side of LED fixtures. On a typical 60cm aquarium you can expect this light to comprise of over half the depth while also being so close to the aquarium rim that you cannot reasonably perform maintenance.

ONF uses a "Color full LED" composition which claims to utliize three wavelengths and full spectrum color.

This could be a huge problem for ONF. While they have made an aesthetically pleasing LED, it seems as if the heatsink was overlooked. Lack of adequate heat dissipation may result in premature LED half life, or die off.
